We have been using Yates for our fish and chips since it opened and have always been very happy with it - they originally were based at Thorpe Le Soken and then moved to Walton on Naze!
The parking can be a bit hit and miss but that's the price you pay for a decent chippy!
I've rated this a deserved 5 stars! -

Yate's Fish and Chips shop is found on the corner of Old Pier Street. On street parking is limited and there is also a car park found on the High Street next to the library.
The shop has a freshly painted, inviting exterior. At the front is the takeaway counter and beyond that a good sized restaurant. Orders for both are taken at the till, if eating in it is best to grab a table first, check out the menu and then send someone up to order. Not so easy if you're eating alone.
The menu is limited to traditional fish, chicken, burgers, a few vegetarian options and chips. Hot and soft drinks are available. Yates doesn't have a licence for alchohol so its a quick eat place rather than a destination for an evening meal.
The food is tasty and reasonably priced for family meals.
I would recommend this as a good place to eat in Walton.
